How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in Hollis Montessori School! We look forward to introducing you to our school and getting to know you during the application process. Our admission procedure is outlined below. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions.

  1. School Visit and Parent Meeting
The first step in the admission process is to contact us to make an appointment for a parent meeting and school visit. This is an opportunity to observe in our classrooms, converse about your child, the Montessori methods and principles our school follows, and enrollment possibilities. It will help both parties determine if HMS is a school in which your child will thrive and it is an essential part of the admission process. We accept applications only after parents have visited the school.

  2. Submit Application
When a decision has been made to apply, please complete the Application Form and forward it with the non-refundable application fee to the school. Be sure to include and/or forward transcripts and evaluations, as these are also an important part of your child’s application.

  3. Forward Student Evaluation Form
If your child is currently enrolled in a preschool or school program, have your child’s current teacher complete the appropriate student evaluation form and forward the form to us.

  4. Student Classroom Visit
After your child’s application and fee have been received, we will contact you to arrange your child's visit. This is typically an hour for Children's House students, a morning for Elementary students, and a full day for Middle School students. This visit helps to determine if Hollis Montessori offers the right fit for your child and aids us in class placement.

  5. Admission Decision
The school will begin sending out notifications of acceptance in March for the following school year. Admissions will continue on a rolling basis after that time. In all cases admission will be determined after careful consideration of the appropriate placement of the child.

Waiting Pool
If there is not an immediate opening for a new student or if a young child is not quite ready to start school, his/her name is added to our waiting pool. Our classrooms are kept balanced by gender and age. Priority is given to siblings of current and former students, transferring children with prior Montessori experience, readiness for the program, and the parents’ commitment to Montessori education.
