Frequently Asked Questions about
Admission to Hollis Montessori School

Parents usually have many questions about the admissions process. In addition to the answers you'll find here, we encourage you to contact us to schedule a visit.

Please click on the links below to view the FAQ answers.

Is there space available?
We have a limited number of openings in some of our classrooms. Please contact us for the most up to date information.

May I come visit?
Yes, we encourage parents to visit the school and observe in our classrooms. Please contact us to schedule a visit.

May I bring my child with me when I visit?
No, we request that parents visit without their children. (Small infants are welcome) This will allow you to observe our classrooms without the distraction of tending to your own child. It can also be quite distracting for our students to have a new child in the classroom. Your child will have the opportunity to visit the school after an application has been submitted.

What is the tuition cost?
See our Tuition & Fees page for the most current information.

Does a child need to have previous Montessori experience?
It is recommended, but it is not always necessary. In all cases admission will be determined after careful consideration as to appropriate placement of the child.

The exception to this is our Middle School program. This program is unique and separate from our programs for younger students, and previous Montessori experience is not necessary.

In all admissions decisions we carefully consider each child's unique background before determining admission and placement.

Can my child come three days a week?
No; we only offer a five day program.

Do you offer a kindergarten program?
Not in the traditional sense. The Children's House program is for children age 3-6. The final year of this program serves students of the same age as a traditional kindergarten class.

When will I find out if my child has been accepted?
We start notifying families of admissions decisions in March.
