Faculty & Staff

Our faculty members are highly-trained and share a passion for creating a love of learning and instilling values of respect, independence, and creativity.

All of our lead teachers are certified by the Association Montessori International. The AMI credential is internationally recognized by Montessori schools around the world. We are the only Montessori school in New Hampshire with this distinction.

 

Kari Headington - Head of School
Kari joined Hollis Montessori in 2009 as our Children's House Lead Teacher and became Head of School in 2010. Kari completed her AMI Primary Diploma at the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota in St. Paul. She received her B.S. in Special Education from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. Prior to coming to Hollis, Kari was Lead Teacher in Montessori Primary classrooms in both Massachusetts and Minnesota. Outside of teaching, Kari enjoys travel, reading, running and visiting the sights of New England with her family. Kari lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two sons. Her sons attend Hollis Montessori School.

 

Camille Campbell - Assistant Head of School
Camille was a founding member of the school in 2008. In addition to her role as Board Treasurer, she manages administrative duties at the school and is the school's webmaster. Camille holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Connecticut and she also studied Visual Arts at Rivier College. Outside of school, Camille enjoys yoga, running, gardening, graphic arts, and spending time with her family. Camille lives in New Hampshire with her husband and two daughters. Her daughters attend Hollis Montessori School.

 

Carla Carney - Children's House Teacher
Carla joined Hollis Montessori in 2010 as our Children's House Co-Teacher. She attended Montessori school as a child. Carla earned her AMI Primary Diploma from the Montessori Institute of Atlanta and her B.A. in Organ at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. She has taught in Montessori schools in Georgia and Massachusetts, and has taught English in Tai Yuan, China. Carla enjoys running marathons, sewing, quilting, traveling, cooking, knitting and crocheting. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and daughter who is just starting out on her Montessori journey at Hollis Montessori School.

 

Katherine Skinner - Children's House Assistant
Katie joined Hollis Montessori in 2008 as our Children's House Assistant. She graduated from Saint Anselm College with a B.A. in Psychology. Katie and her siblings attended Montessori schools growing up in East Granby, Connecticut. Her mother is an AMI trained Montessori teacher and Katie's own children also attended Montessori school. Katie has always enjoyed working with children of all ages. Previously she was the assistant coordinator of Teen Programs at the Manchester YWCA and also tutored students at Hollis Brookline High School in the special education department. In her free time Katie enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Katie lives in New Hampshire with her husband and three children.

 

Monica Jagentenfl - Children's House Assistant
Monica joined Hollis Montessori in 2011. She has completed her AMS Montessori Children’s House certification. Monica is a musician, having attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston and the University of Miami Jazz School in Coral Gables, FL. She lives in New Hampshire with her husband and three children. Her two sons attend Hollis Montessori.

 

Zoe Castro - Lower Elementary Teacher
Zoe joined Hollis Montessori in 2010 as our Lower Elementary Lead Teacher. As a child, Zoe attended Montessori schools through fifth grade. After completing her AMS Montessori Upper Elementary training at Michigan Montessori Teacher Education Center, Zoe went on to complete her AMI Elementary Diploma at the Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola College in Maryland. She received her B.A. in English and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Michigan. Zoe has taught in Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary classrooms in Michigan, Texas, and Massachusetts before joining the Hollis Montessori community. Zoe enjoys quilting and other crafts, spending time outdoors, and traveling, especially around New England. She lives in Massachusetts with her Golden Retriever mix, Annie.

 

Celina Gayeski - Upper Elementary Teacher
Celina joined Hollis Montessori in 2009 as our Elementary Lead Teacher. In addition to guiding our Upper Elementary class, Celina also works with the adolescent students. A Montessori child herself, Celina completed her AMI Elementary Diploma and Masters of Education at the Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola College in Maryland. Celina has also completed the NAMTA Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies program (ages 12-18) in Ohio. She received her B.S. in Animal Science from Cornell University. Prior to coming to Hollis, Celina taught as Lead Guide in Montessori elementary classrooms in both Maryland and Massachusetts. Outside of teaching, Celina enjoys working on craft projects, watercolor painting, the outdoors, and learning about animal behavior and dog training. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband, son, and their two dogs.

 

Samantha Devine - Elementary Assistant
Sam joined Hollis Montessori in 2008 as our Elementary Assistant Teacher. She completed her AMI Elementary Assistant training at The Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola College in Maryland. Sam was a Montessori child herself and attended Montessori school from age 4 through grade 6. This innate understanding of Montessori education led her to enroll her own children in Montessori school. The experience of volunteering in her eldest child's classroom evolved into a full-time teaching position. Outside of teaching, Sam enjoys reading, hiking, yoga, and spending time with her family. Sam lives in New Hampshire with her husband and two daughters. Her daughters attend Hollis Montessori School.

 

James Webster - Adolescent Program Teacher
Jim joined Hollis Montessori in 2011 as our Adolescent Lead Teacher. A seasoned guide, he has enjoyed working in a variety of Montessori environments ranging from Primary to Adolescent. Prior to coming to Hollis, he taught as an Adolescent Guide at the Hershey Montessori Farm School in Ohio. Jim has presented talks at a number of national Montessori Elementary and Adolescent Conferences. He holds a B.A. in English Literature from Dartmouth College. He completed his AMI Elementary training at the Washington Montessori Institute as well as the North American Montessori Teachers Association Adolescent Orientation. Jim enjoys adventures and using his hands as well as his head. He is the father of two adult children who completed their Montessori educations in the Hershey Adolescent Program. Jim lives in New Hampshire with his wife who is also a trained Montessori Children's House and Elementary teacher.

 

Elena Volkova - French Specialist and Art Historian
Elena joined Hollis Montessori in 2009 as our French Specialist and Art Historian. Madame Volkova is a graduate of St. Petersburg University, Russia, and holds a Master’s Degree in French. She has over 15 years experience teaching french language and culture. She has worked as a docent in the Hermitage (St Petersburg) and Le Louvre (Paris). She learned her cooking skills from her Russian grandmother, and enriched her skills living for many years in France and savoring traditional and gourmet French cooking. Elena lives in Massachusetts with her son, who attends Hollis Montessori School.
